Absinthe is now legal again in America, thanks to a very amusing redefinition of “margin of error” to include 11 mg/L of thujone (the European standard, by coincidence). If you’re interested in trying it or perhaps simply collecting a bottle of the first batch of legal American absinthe, it’s substantially cheaper than having it flown in from France or Britain illegally (not that I know anyone who might have done that…). I recommend you check out Drink Up NY and order a bottle while they’re waiving the shipping fee.

Now, this might not be an absinthe spoon. But, it’s the right size—too small to be a serving spoon with holes this size. Plus it fits nicely over a glass, though it doesn’t seem to be balanced quite right.
At any rate, it served the task for tonight’s ghetto trial run. We were using Pernod not-absinthe in boring glass, pipetting water one straw at a time over the bland ordinary sugar cubes.
And you know, it was still awesome.

Oh man. I haven’t really enjoyed a game in ages. But this is just too much fun! I toasted Mother Russia yesterday and today Europe flattened me, playing as Africa.
By the way, if anyone else needs absinthe supplies, I recommend Absinthe on the Net.
